September 2010 Family of the Month--The Ryan Family
Robin, Cindy, Daryl and Reed Ryan moved to Grapevine in 1996. In 1998, Graham Ryan was born into the family. The Ryans have a golden retriever / yellow lab mix dog named Rusty. Rusty is a great dog unless it is thundering, a occurrence that can be pretty intense in Texas!
Robin Ryan was recently named the Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Prior to that he served in HEB ISD, Carroll ISD and most recently, Dallas ISD, where he was the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Ryan also served previously as the principal of Colleyville Heritage High School. Robin is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Robin served in the Army National Guard and Reserve for over 20 years, retiring in 2004.

Cindy is Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine. She also serves as a part-time chaplain at Texas Health Resources HEB. She enjoys writing and has had an on-going column in the Colleyville Courier and has had articles published in several other newspapers and magazines as well. Cindy has also served as a Hospice Chaplain. She is a popular speaker for women’s events. Dr. Ryan is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M and TCU’s Brite Divinity School, where she received a Masters of Divinity degree and a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling.
Daryl is a senior psychology major at Texas A&M. She plans to study speech pathology in graduate school after college graduation. While at A&M, Daryl was active in a Freshman Leadership Organization, a group mentoring freshman and helping them to develop leadership skills. Daryl was a 2007 graduate of Grapevine High School where she was active in the GHS Band, Pals and the National Honor Society.
Reed will be a freshman at Texas A&M this fall majoring in Sports Management. He is a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets, Outfit E-1. Reed graduated from Grapevine High School in May 2010. He was quarterback of the “Miracle Mustangs” football team and also played varsity baseball. Reed participated in Read to Succeed, a program where student athletes read to elementary students.
Graham is a 6th grader at Cross Timbers Middle School where he is a member of the band, playing percussion. Graham enjoys baseball and basketball.
Daryl, Reed and Graham have all participated in a variety of church activities at First United Methodist Church of Grapevine, including helping with GRACE’s Feed Our Kids program, summer mission trips and other outreach activities.
August 2010 Family of the Month--The Watson Family
The Watson Family - Curtis, Beth, Will, and Jake love living in the Grapevine/Colleyville area. Curtis and Beth both grew up in Corpus Christi. As an A&M Aggie and TCU Horned Frog, Curtis and Beth (respectively) wished to remain in Texas. They settled in North Texas in 1995 and were excited to move to Grapevine in 2003, particularly due to the exemplary GCISD schools and all of the community activities of Grapevine. Their Yellow Lab, Sackett, joined their family in 2008.
July 2010 Family of the Month--The Embry Family
The Embry Family - Mark, Marian, Carolyn, Stephanie and Christine - have happily called Colleyville home for the past nine years.
Mark is an executive with Siemens Healthcare where his work has taken the family to the east coast (Massachusetts), west coast (California), overseas (New Zealand) and back to Texas, his native state. Mark is a lifelong Cowboy’s fan and enjoys playing golf.
June 2010 Family of the Month--The Ruddick Family
Shelley, Jacqueline and William have called the wonderful community of Grapevine “home” for the past 18 years. After relocating from Pennsylvania in 1992, they quickly became acclimated to the warm Texas weather and the warm Texas hospitality. Moving to a friendly community with outstanding schools and many opportunities to be involved made the adjustment easy for Shelley and her children.
May 2010 Family of the Month--The Mattson Family
Gregg, Elizabeth, Brynne, Lacey and Jacob Mattson have lived in Colleyville for over 19 years. It is the only home they have known as a family and they delightfully anticipate that will remain the case for the foreseeable future. Gregg and Elizabeth met while working as a pilot and flight attendant for American Airlines. With an ideal commute to DFW and a growing family, Colleyville seemed like the perfect place to build a new home.
April 2010 Family of the Month--The Bodish Family
The Bodish family—Steve, Darlene, Sarah, Emily, Erin, Stephen and Coco, their long-haired Chihuahua, love the Grapevine-Colleyville area. Steve and Darlene both moved to the area in 1989 with job transfers and fell in love with Grapevine’s charm, abundance of activities, proximity to the airport and friendly people.
March 2010 Family of the Month--The Nakamura Family
The Nakamura family—Yuki, Tammy, Natalia, Nico and mother in law Nana, have lived in Colleyville for the past ten years. In addition to the two-legged members, they have two other family members, Mario and Luigi, a 15 year old black lab and a Yorky-poo puppy.
