Elvis sighted in Grapevine!

The last of the Downtown Grapevine Merchant Association “Summer Nights” culminated this past Friday with an “Aloha Night” featuring hula dancers and Elvis impersonators. Live music was available, a balloon artist was making free balloon art for the kids, and there was a dunk tank that raised money for GRACE. In addition, the Chevrolet Camaro being raffled off by GRACE was on proud display.

The three Elvis impersonators were Nathan Belt, Doug Olvey and Tommy Roberts.

Theatre Coppell presents "Almost, Maine"

THEATRE COPPELL presents:

ALMOST, MAINE

 – by John Cariani. August 14 thru August 23, 2009.

Almost_-Maine-1.jpg

All is not quite what it seems in the remote town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream. There’s almost no place like Almost.

American Idol, Grapevine Style!!

Hundreds of people gathered around the gazebo in downtown Grapevine to see a talent show sponsored by the downtown merchants and Grapevinestar. Almost two dozen participants belted out a variety of songs, and at the end of the night, three judges had a difficult decision to make. Finally, after much discussion, three lucky young people won prizes from the local merchants, gift certificates from Lifesong Theatre and career counseling from Grapevinestar.

Lego Fun for Everyone!

More than 50,000 legos, according to Liz Herron from the Lego Education Foundation, were scattered on the second floor of the Colleyville Public Library. More than 400 children were dispersed to different lego stations, with about 15 children per station. They were given a packet to build something as a group. After this was complete, they were allowed to "free build" for the remainder of the hour.
