When Mike Davis became a State Farm Insurance agent 38 years ago, he offered customers the basics in insurance—automobile, homeowners, health and life insurance. Today, as owner of State Farm Insurance in Grapevine, his business has evolved into a full line agency that offers insurance and financial services combined. Davis currently employs 17 staff members and offers more than 90 different products, including mutual funds, banking services, home loans and retirement planning.

Shortly after becoming a State Farm agent, Davis moved to Grapevine and has owned and operated State Farm Insurance since 1973. “We’ve been at our location at 1020 South Main for 32 years”, he states. “We’re actually the oldest financial services company in the city of Grapevine.”

According to Davis, his decision to locate in Grapevine back in the early 1970s was due largely to the opening of the DFW Airport. “I believed that with the airport opening there would be growth in the area,” he says. “Grapevine has been a wonderful place to live and work. We’ve had some great leaders in our community who have helped ensure that the city has experienced a steady growth and a good mix of businesses.”

In addition to remaining in the same location, the agency has also employed many of the same staff members for the past 10 to 20 years. “Most of my employees have been with me a long time—our agency has a very low turnover rate”, says Davis. “Our clients really appreciate this. They like the fact that they know their account manager very well. Our goal is to give our clients the best service possible. Our clients can reach us in the event of an emergency, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.”
