September 2010 Family of the Month--The Ryan Family
Robin, Cindy, Daryl and Reed Ryan moved to Grapevine in 1996. In 1998, Graham Ryan was born into the family. The Ryans have a golden retriever / yellow lab mix dog named Rusty. Rusty is a great dog unless it is thundering, a occurrence that can be pretty intense in Texas!
Robin Ryan was recently named the Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Prior to that he served in HEB ISD, Carroll ISD and most recently, Dallas ISD, where he was the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Ryan also served previously as the principal of Colleyville Heritage High School. Robin is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Robin served in the Army National Guard and Reserve for over 20 years, retiring in 2004.

Cindy is Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine. She also serves as a part-time chaplain at Texas Health Resources HEB. She enjoys writing and has had an on-going column in the Colleyville Courier and has had articles published in several other newspapers and magazines as well. Cindy has also served as a Hospice Chaplain. She is a popular speaker for women’s events. Dr. Ryan is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M and TCU’s Brite Divinity School, where she received a Masters of Divinity degree and a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling.
Daryl is a senior psychology major at Texas A&M. She plans to study speech pathology in graduate school after college graduation. While at A&M, Daryl was active in a Freshman Leadership Organization, a group mentoring freshman and helping them to develop leadership skills. Daryl was a 2007 graduate of Grapevine High School where she was active in the GHS Band, Pals and the National Honor Society.
Reed will be a freshman at Texas A&M this fall majoring in Sports Management. He is a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets, Outfit E-1. Reed graduated from Grapevine High School in May 2010. He was quarterback of the “Miracle Mustangs” football team and also played varsity baseball. Reed participated in Read to Succeed, a program where student athletes read to elementary students.
Graham is a 6th grader at Cross Timbers Middle School where he is a member of the band, playing percussion. Graham enjoys baseball and basketball.
Daryl, Reed and Graham have all participated in a variety of church activities at First United Methodist Church of Grapevine, including helping with GRACE’s Feed Our Kids program, summer mission trips and other outreach activities.
