Identify Theft Seminar hosted by Asset Preservation Group
The Asset Preservation Group hosted an Identity Theft Seminar at the Colleyville Center with guest speaker Detective Kelly Smith of the Grapevine Police Department.
Detective Kelly Smith addressed concerned residents
About 20 people attended the seminar. He provided very useful and compelling information. He answered questions, such as:
- Should I use cash or my debit card at restaurants? (Answer: use cash)
- What's about online purchases? How do I know it's safe? (Answer: look for the "padlock" symbol or https:)
- Do I really need to worry about this? (Answer: Yes, anyone can be a victim)
- How big is the problem, really? (Answer: Over $500M per year in authorized purchases via identity theft)
