Don't miss the Shining Stars luncheon benefiting the Arts Council that is this Friday, October 22 at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas, 223 West Las Colinas Boulevard, in Irving.

Emcee for the event will be Kristine Kahanek, Meteorologist and Author of Katie and the Magic Umbrella. There will be a raffle, live and silent auctions, and LOTS and LOTS of art!

Event proceeds from the Shining Stars luncheon will help carry on outstanding community arts programs such as:

• Visual and performing arts concerts free and open to the public through a Masterworks Concert Series—for the last 29 years.  Over 100 concerts to some 20,000 people in 2009 with another 87 concerts scheduled in 2010.
   
• Summer Arts College—Over 4000 students since 1995.  Over 600 scholarships so no child was turned away. 
     
• Arts-related grants.   Over $650,000, with matching grants totaling over $1.3 million, for the arts since 1997 benefiting at-risk youth, school children, senior citizens and emerging arts groups, touching the lives of over 130,000 North Tarrant County citizens last year alone.
