The Hilton DFW Lakes hosted the first "Grapevine Women’s 50K Tennis Classic" with players from over 30 different countries competing in the largest professional sporting event this year in Grapevine. It was broadcast worldwide on radiotennis.com.
Singles winner Valerie Tetreault does a fist pump after winning a tough point
Thirty two players made the main draw via seeding and a qualifying tournament. The semi-finals were held on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday. Court temperatures during most of the tournament was a searing 120+ degrees. In addition to the main draw, the DFW Hilton Lakes hosted an exhibition match on Thursday July 9th

Hilton Assistant General Manager Kevin Buck hopes this is just the first of many. “We were bidding against San Antonio and Memphis. The two deciding factors were our proximity to DFW airport, and the fact that we had tennis courts here at the hotel,” said Mr. Buck. “Our tournament director, Chris Giordano, did a fabulous job in putting this together. Normally you prepare for a year for this type of event. He did it in 120 days.” Over 200 room nights were sold to visitors from as far as Japan, Russia and New Zealand.
Top seeded Stephanie Dubois agonizes losing a point
Sixth-seeded Valerie TETREAULT outlasted top seed Stephanie DUBOIS 2-6, 7-6 (6). 7-6 (1) in the singles final. In the doubles final, second seed Lindsay LEE-WATERS and Riza ZALAMEDA bettered Kimberly COUTS and Valerie TETREAULT 7-6 (5), 6-3.
