Colleyville Garden Club wins National Award
The Colleyville Garden Club has been presented with the Publicity Press Book Award from the National Garden Clubs, Inc. The announcement was made at the 81st annual NGC convention in Atlanta where more than 1,000 were in attendance. National Garden Clubs is the largest volunteer gardening organization with over 200,000 members worldwide. Its annual awards are the highest forms of recognition for garden clubs.

Garden clubs compete for recognition and awards by submitting reports detailing their activities and community projects. Since its membership went over 100 this past year, Colleyville Garden Club was classified as a large garden club and competed in that category for the very first time. It first entered into the District II competition which is composed of 23 counties in North Central Texas and received 9 awards there. Eight of these were for first place.
The Colleyville Garden Club then went on to compete against other district champions within Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Five earned competitive awards there and the club was also singled out for special recognition with the TGC Membership Extension Award and TGC Award of Excellence for earning the most gold club rating points in Texas. After earning the top award in Texas, the Publicity Press Book vied at the South Central Region where it won against competitors from Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas. It then went on to compete at the national level, where it was recognized with the National Garden Clubs Publicity Press Book Award.
The Colleyville Garden Club meets at the Colleyville Center on the first Wednesday morning of the month, from September to May. For more information about the club, visit its website at www.colleyvillegardenclub.org .
